About Us

Problem Solving is in Our DNA

When you first start off trying to solve a problem, the first solutions you come up with are very complex, and most people stop there. But if you keep going, and live with the problem and peel more layers of the onion off, you can oftentimes arrive at some very elegant and simple solutions. Most people just don’t put in the time or energy to get there. We believe that customers are smart, and want objects which are well thought through.

Why We Wake Up in the Morning

There are many ‘technology’ companies. We are not one of them.  We work with people to Discover their problems and the challenges they are facing. We Design the best solution that’s a fit for their environment. And efficiently Develop a solution that benefits our customer.

Our Mission and Values

Technology Products and Services for the Benefit of All Mankind

Technology Products and Services for the Benefit of All Mankind We operate under a different philosophy. For years, technology companies have regurgitated buzzwords and jargon at the World, expecting people to buy their products and solutions. We began The Studio with a desire to cut through all of the crap and simply help people. We don’t believe technology is an end-all-be-all solution for everything, but we do believe that with intimate knowledge of a problem, and the application of the right mix of techniques and technologies, we can help you make a difference in your company, your life, and the lives of others.

Master of Mobile, Author, Nerd, and Inventor

William Lee Mapp, III is one of the world’s leading software designers and architects. Having received his first computer at age 7, Will has been writing programs ever since. He was instrumental in the success of the US Census Bureau’s 2010 Census as the external interface technical lead for all data products. The 2010 Census project received 4 positive Inspector Evaluation Reports (IERs) for the external interface alone from the Inspector General’s office and has been noted as the most successful US Census on record. He is an expert in embedded and mobile technologies using high transactional processing and was part of the Capture Tech team in the deployment of the first RFID enabled bookshelf in the Netherlands. His RFID experiences extend to down to the consumer. He is the designer for the embedded data capture software running on Motorola RFID readers deployed at McKesson Corporation distribution centers in the United States. McKesson delivers pharmaceutical products to Target, CVS, and Walgreen stores; so, if you have picked up a prescription at one of these stores your products were scanned by software designed by him.

Will has been working with embedded systems since designing the testing systems for the US Navy’s vertical launching system for Lockheed Martin and was instrumental in the sonar sensor systems for the US Navy’s Seawolf attack submarine. He has a long pedigree of past experiences having worked for IBM Corporation, Wandel and Goltermann Technologies, Tecore Wireless Systems, Lockheed Martin, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, BA Systems, and of course the Studio.

He is a world renowned speaker having delivered talks and keynotes about RFID technology in Europe and the Middle East, design patterns in data capture techniques, and high transactional data processing strategies. He has contributed to RFID Journal Magazine and currently writes a weekly column for the Mobile Developers’ Network.
